Hosting "Templates Topic" on LotusUserGroup Forum Next Week

Please join me
during the upcoming week on LotusUserGroup.org for what I expect will be
a lively discussion of all things Templates.
Most of us already know that to realize Lotus Notes' true potential you must go beyond using it for just email and tap it's rapid application development capabilities. But while any decent spreadsheet jock can whip up a usable (if only barely) Notes application, it can take considerable effort by an experienced developer to create something of real quality.
The good news is that many of those experienced developers have already built a lot of great applications, and made them freely available to the Lotus community. These application templates can be rolled out as is or serve as the starting point for further customization, giving even relatively inexperienced developers the ability to deliver quality apps quickly. They come in a wide variety of flavors, from single purpose applications to generic frameworks, from user-facing collaborative apps to tools for developers and administrators. In short, there are few more effective ways to dramatically improve the ROI of your Notes investment than taking advantage of these available templates.
To get an idea of what's out there you can check out the slides from the most recent edition of the Templates, Templates, Everywhere - If You Know Where to Look presentation delivered by myself and Bruce Elgort earlier this year at ILUG. Oh, and if you want to see an updated and improved edition of this presentation at Lotusphere 2009, head over to IdeaJam and vote for it.
This forum is your opportunity to ask questions of myself and other readers, to tell us about great templates we may not have seen, or talk about how you can contribute your own templates to the betterment of the Lotus community.
Please join the conversation.
